Em 2020, fruto da pandemia COVID-19, milhares de espectáculos foram cancelados ou adiados, museus e teatros fecharam, editoras adiaram o lançamento de novos livros, companhias de teatro e dança cancelaram todas as produções.
Foram meses de interregno para o panorama cultural do país.
Vulneráveis e desprotegidos, os artistas e profissionais da cultura, sentiram o impacto desta situação de uma forma imediata.
Por outro lado, o Ministério da Cultura foi lento a criar medidas de apoio ao sector, e quando as tomou, revelaram-se manifestamente insuficientes e pouco abrangentes para fazer face a esta realidade.
Foram tempos de incerteza sobre o presente e o futuro de milhares de artistas. Grande parte destes artistas vivem dependentes das apresentações públicas e, sem estas, ficaram sem voz!
Voiceless
In 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of shows were canceled or postponed, museums and theatres closed, publishers delayed the release of new books, theatre and dance companies canceled all productions.
There were several months of cultural interregnum.
Vulnerable and unprotected, the artists felt the impact of this situation immediately.
On the other hand, the government took a very long time to create measures to support the sector, and when they took them, they proved to be insufficient and unequal to face this reality.
It was a time of uncertainty about the present and future of thousands of artists. Most of these artists depend on public performances, and without them, they became voiceless.
